{"id":481,"date":"2019-11-02T21:20:59","date_gmt":"2019-11-02T21:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arielleestoria.com\/?p=481"},"modified":"2019-11-02T21:20:59","modified_gmt":"2019-11-02T21:20:59","slug":"2019-11-2-no-shame-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arielleestoria.com\/?p=481","title":{"rendered":"No Shame November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">In collaboration with @thewildabide a shop and community for their annual No Shame November Campaign, I wrote this poem to encourage and bring hope to a conversation that tends to feel so heavy and daunting. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\">For more about the Wild Abide and what they\u2019re about you can find out<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewildabide.com\"> here<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">This year, I\u2019ve been intentionally sitting and exploring the concept of shame, finding the root of it individually but then also exploring this systemic weight of shame that women specifically tend to carry. Shame in these bodies, in these voices and overall existence. One thing I keep coming back to is that Shame is stemmed in lies and whenever I get caught up in the lies, I remind myself to \u201cfind the truth\u201d. Find the truth of who you are, the fullness of your identity in who you say you are but ultimately who God says you are:<strong> so so loved and valuable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">I wrote this poem to dive more into the concept of no shame, I know that it will probably be one of many! Take a read, take a listen and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>When Adam and Eve took the first bite of fruit,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>all hell did not immediately break loose<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>&nbsp;instead it eased itself into a coat of fear and covered the garden&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Shame showed up, made its camp at the feet of them both&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>and has made home in our world, in our hearts, in our minds ever since<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em><br \/>When Adam and Eve took the first bite of fruit,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>fiery comets did not fall<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Instead a nagging sensation in their spirits&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>poked and prodded at the \u201cgood and very good\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>spoken over them moments before<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Shame and fear danced around them in a frenzy&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>only to settle by hovering over them,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>\u201cWho told you that you were naked?\u201d God asked<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>I could almost hear the hurt crack in His voice when he asks this&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>as if to say, \u201cwhere did this shame come from?&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>This wasn\u2019t supposed to be part of the story.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong><em>Shame was never meant to be part of the story&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong><em>Shame was never meant to be part of our story&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>See this act of self love is not an act of worldly rebellion<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>It is a small attempt at reuniting ourselves back to our creator<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>It is a rewinding of identity, unraveling shame and fear from our lungs<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Keeping us choked up<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Keeping us stuck in where we were<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Keeping us frozen in complacency<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>instead of walking boldy in what we\u2019ve been created for, <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>fullness, a garden of fruition, of plans blooming and prosperous<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><em><br \/><\/em><strong><em>We were not made for shame or fear<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong><em>We were not made to be silenced or small<\/em><\/strong><em><br \/><\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>He says, I knit you together in your mother&#8217;s womb<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>which means everything I did was on purpose<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><strong><em>To show you that you have purpose<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>Intricate and intentionally destined purpose<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>whispered into your existence so that fear could not win<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>and if these poems are reminders of freedom&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>from a shame we were never meant to live in,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>then I will do whatever it takes&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>To unwind the shame with every poem, with every song, with every post.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong><em>See shame was never meant to be part of the story<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\"><strong><em>shame was never meant to be part of your story <\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><em>and if this is what it means to walk in freedom, an unshackled existence in who we are,<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"><em>then I will stand a little bit taller, I will walk a little bolder because shame was not meant to be part of my story.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"
